Amazon FBA / Inventory Planning

A forecast is not useful because it predicts a neat reorder date. It is useful when it notices that ocean freight slipped, Prime Day changed velocity, AWD stock is not yet available at FBA, and a carton minimum makes the suggested quantity impossible. The best tool is the one your buyer can challenge, adjust, and turn into a real purchase order.

Best combined dashboardsellerboard for inventory plus profit

Most Amazon inventory mistakes are not calculation errors. They are timing errors. Someone used factory lead time but forgot inspection and port delay. Inbound units were counted twice. A stockout depressed recent sales, so the forecast treated lost demand as lower demand. A promotion went live without telling the person responsible for replenishment.

That is why I would not buy forecasting software based on the prettiest chart. I want to know where every input comes from, how it handles missing history, whether it separates supplier orders from transfers, and what happens when reality disagrees with the model.

The Short Answer

SoStocked is the strongest option for sellers who need configurable velocity, seasonality, supplier lead times, multiple warehouses, purchase orders, and a visible inventory timeline. RestockPro is easier to justify for an FBA-centered operation that wants restock suggestions to flow directly into POs, inbound shipments, labels, and supplier records. sellerboard is the practical choice when the team already uses it for profit tracking and needs a lighter inventory planner in the same workspace.

Do not automate the first recommendation. Run the new tool beside your current spreadsheet for one complete purchasing cycle. Differences are not automatically errors, but every large difference should be explainable.
Decision factor SoStocked RestockPro sellerboard
Best fit Private-label sellers with longer, configurable supply chains FBA sellers that want a focused restock and PO workflow Sellers who want inventory planning beside profit analytics
Forecast control High: multiple velocity models, seasonality, overrides, buffers, lead-time paths Moderate: sales velocity, target stock, coverage, supplier and order settings Moderate: velocity, seasonality, supplier lead time, reorder preferences
Execution POs, work orders, supplier tracking, warehouse and FBA transfers POs, shipments, suppliers, labels, local inventory, kits Recommended quantities plus purchase-order and shipment-plan creation
AWD visibility Direct US integration; some regions require manual workflows Shows AWD on-hand, distributable, and reserved quantities Shows AWD stock and stock sent to AWD in supported views
Main limitation Requires careful setup and process ownership Designed specifically for FBA, not merchant-fulfilled inventory Less supply-chain depth than a dedicated forecasting platform

What a Forecast Must Get Right

A credible reorder recommendation needs four clocks. The first is demand: normal velocity, seasonal change, promotions, and stockout-corrected history. The second is supply: production, inspection, booking, transit, customs, prep, and Amazon receiving. The third is cash: deposit dates, balance payments, freight, and how much working capital is already tied up. The fourth is Amazon: capacity limits, low-inventory fees, aged stock, inbound placement, AWD transfers, and check-in delays.

No tool sees every clock perfectly. The software should make assumptions visible and give the operator a place to override them. A black-box recommendation is dangerous when a 20 percent sales spike can trigger a five-figure purchase order.

SoStocked: The Most Configurable Planner

Best for complex supply chains

SoStocked is built around an inventory timeline rather than a single reorder number. Its official demo describes forecasts up to twelve months ahead, customizable velocity methods, seasonal overrides, growth adjustments, supplier lead times, buffer stock, purchase orders, work orders, and inventory moving through warehouses, AWD, and FBA.

That detail is valuable when stock travels through several stages. A seller can model production, ocean freight, 3PL receiving, and the transfer into FBA separately instead of pretending that all lead time is one number. It also makes the tool useful for conversations between marketing and operations: a promotion can be placed on the timeline before it becomes a stockout.

The cost is setup discipline. If lead times, supplier assignments, case packs, inbound orders, and warehouse balances are not maintained, the timeline becomes precise-looking fiction. SoStocked also documents that some AWD workflows outside the US require manual inventory updates because regional API support differs.

  • Choose it when: several suppliers, warehouses, marketplaces, or seasonal overrides make a spreadsheet fragile.
  • Test first: a product with a past stockout, one with two suppliers, and one moving through AWD.
  • Official resources: SoStocked demo overview and AWD workflow notes.

RestockPro: Focused FBA Replenishment

Best for Amazon-only execution

RestockPro stays close to the daily FBA job: review suggestions, see urgent SKUs, decide whether to order from a supplier or transfer local stock, create a PO or shipment, and keep the product and supplier details together. It also supports kits, labels, local inventory, estimated margins, and shipment tracking.

I like this fit for a wholesale or private-label team that lives in FBA and wants fewer decisions between the forecast and the purchase order. The official documentation is refreshingly direct: suggested quantities should still be considered alongside profit margin, competition, sales history, case packs, minimum order quantities, and Amazon shipment limits.

Its boundary is equally clear. RestockPro says it is for FBA and does not currently support merchant-fulfilled SKUs. Sellers with significant FBM, Shopify, or wholesale inventory may need a broader inventory system or a separate source of truth.

  • Choose it when: the operation is strongly FBA-centered and buyers need restock-to-PO speed.
  • Watch: marketplace support, NARF or Pan-EU requirements, and whether local inventory updates are sufficiently automated.
  • Official resources: RestockPro product overview and its restock suggestion guide.

sellerboard: Planning Beside Real Profit

Best for a lean combined stack

sellerboard is attractive when the store already trusts it for profit reporting. Its Inventory Planner surfaces days of stock left, days until the next order, recommended reorder quantity, supplier settings, seasonality, AWD stock, and Amazon-provided inventory metrics. Users can move from the planner into a shipment plan or purchase order.

The advantage is not that it replaces every supply-chain system. It is that a seller can look at stock risk and product economics without reconciling two unrelated dashboards. A fast-selling SKU with weak contribution margin should not automatically absorb the next purchasing budget.

For a business with several external warehouses, long production stages, component inventory, or complex regional pooling, sellerboard may be the planning signal rather than the full operational system. That is fine if the ownership line is explicit.

  • Choose it when: you want useful restock guidance without adding a large implementation project.
  • Watch: whether your team needs deeper PO approvals, component planning, warehouse integrations, or supplier collaboration.
  • Official resource: sellerboard Inventory Planner.

The Trial I Would Run

Week 1: clean the inputs. Confirm SKU mappings, packed costs, MOQs, case packs, supplier lead times, 3PL stock, open POs, and every inbound shipment. Bad inputs should not be disguised as forecast error.

Week 2: challenge history. Mark stockouts, listing suspensions, one-time promotions, coupons, and unusual bulk orders. See whether the system can stop those periods from distorting normal velocity.

Week 3: compare decisions. Compare suggested order date and quantity against the existing process for ten SKUs: stable, seasonal, new, slow, stocked out, and fast-growing.

Week 4: execute one cycle. Create a real PO and transfer, receive part of it, delay the balance, and reconcile the resulting FBA shipment. The forecast must survive operational changes, not only calculate them.

My Recommendation

Choose SoStocked when inventory planning itself is a major operating discipline and the team will maintain detailed inputs. Choose RestockPro when Amazon FBA is the center of the business and the shortest path from recommendation to PO matters. Choose sellerboard when the team wants a practical inventory planner beside profitability data and does not need a full supply-chain implementation.

Whichever tool you choose, keep one human checkpoint before a purchase order is sent. Forecasting software should remove repetitive math and reveal risk. It should not make cash commitments without context.
